Depending on the amount, there may be a requirement to prove that the money was legitimately obtained outside the U.S., and is not from either work in the U.S. (which would be taxed) or from drugs, money laundering, or some other illegal activity.Try to have a budget so you know how much to get in one trip to the bank. They will charge for the conversion each time and so by making less trips to the bank you can save money.But now you have more money on hand to be robbed. If you are American know that you are a target for thieves. Perhaps your bank has travelers-checks which can be replaced if lost or stolen.
